Okay. .there is no logic in DS, right but there are certain rules of drama.. . how many times on DS did something momentous happen and then the next episode. . .the major players weren't seen?  I mean, today's 2nd episode for instance. . .Natalie shouldve been around, if even unconscious cuz the local doc gave her laudnum or something because she was so distraut.  But not seeing her grief or being told that Josette was dead was a cop out and having Elizabeth say she was 'fine' was a total blase statement. She's a hyperreactive, imperious Countess, you KNOW she ain't fine!  [bawl]

I can think of other times DS did that. . .its disappointing really  .

It does seem that we the audience, get short changed when it comes to seeing how people would react to certain circumstances. >:(  For instance, where is Andre? He's still in N.Y.?  With all the Collins' wealth & power, they can't send a few servants to N.Y to go and fetch him so "at least" he can attend his own daughters funeral? ?!?  Also, where is Abigail? I would love to see her reaction to a few of the happenings that have been going on lately. :o

I agree it doesn't make any sense, and always raises the question "Where'd they go" but the reason has to do with money.   I don't think there are usually any more than five actors or six on any one episode.

True alot of things rested around $$ and not using more than a certain number of actors per week or episode but we didn't really need to see Naomi. . .Natalie was more important at that moment dramatically. . .It would have been far more interesting to see Joshua, mr stoic, try to deal with an overly emotional and distraught Natalie. . .would've been fun. . .

My favorite "Abigail Reaction" :o moment is coming up later, when she gets her just payback, where she is in "the wrong place at the wrong time" as Barnabas awakens from his day-nap!

I always thought that it was asking more than suspension of belief when guest and family members disappear from the story for a while with no valid reason.

Wonder if Auntie Abigal is away getting a face lift? ;D

I agree there have been a number of times when I felt "cheated" out of seeing someone's reaction to something. On the other hand this often works to the writers' advantage. They're free to go back and work in stuff never shown, for instance, without conflicting anything.

Notice they're not real big on weddings. Weddings tend to take place off camera, whereas on most soaps a wedding would take up an entire week by itself! But DS doesn't get caught up in soap standards - they stick to their story.

Also, by having so much action take place off camera, the viewer is left open to interpret or imagine any scenario they wish. Sometimes I kind of like that.
