IN the reprise, it is clearly Virginia walking in dark with knife, Gerard forces Samantha to work with him and admits he's against Q. Samantha recounts her encounter with Johanna. She is beautifully filmed. It was much more interesting watching her than the plot line. Samantha used Johanna's letters and then forged new ones. Gerard says he had to reject her when Q returned. Gerard learns the Daphne is Johanna's sister.
Lamar lures Barnabas his cellar with promises of Roxanne's ghost. Lamar revels he will seal Barnabas up in the wall.
you know there's a whole wing that's closed off all the time; the west wing, I go there lots of times

So it's Samantha who has been manufacturing the notes and appearances that appeared to be coming from Joanna Mills. We get a lot of background about her extremely unhappy marriage to Quentin and how jealous she was of Joanna. Gerard manipulates the situation to his advantage and he and Samantha form an alliance. Virginia Vestoff does some excellent work here and I can't imagine KLS giving as powerful a performance.
Lamar is getting wackier as the story goes along. He makes the mistake of being nasty to Flora, who has done nothing except be kind to him.
Lamar and Gerard contact an odd scheme to entrap Barnabas. Never mind that he is currently not a vampire. Logic is not part of Lamar's character.
He concocts a bizarre scenario saying that the ghost of Roxanne has been appearing to him at the funeral chapel. She hasn't spoken to him but perhaps she would speak to Barnabas. And Barnabas falls for it! He goes on the word of someone he knows despises him. He tells no one. Nor does he consider holding a seance to direct dial Roxanne. So, when he's bricked up in the basement, it's difficult not to say What were you thinking?
