Ep #123, coffee shop, 1st, Maggie & Joe.

Joe: Well, let's just say Carolyn & I have crossed each other's names off our Christmas card lists. (Now, most women would say, "Oh, we're Christmas card friends"), so, that's not a huge thing.

Enter: * A blonde woman.

Joe & Maggie, still some more 'bantering'. Exit Joe.

Maggie goes up to afore mentioned * blonde woman, pours her some coffee, profers her a menu.

Blonde woman goes up to Maggie, chit-chat (really phishing), asking about Collinsport.
Then, inquires about Mrs. Stoddard, then Roger.

Maggie:.....well, let's just say he's the man mostly likely to give an imitation of Scrooge THIS CHRISTMAS.

Little bit later, Maggie: Are you here for THE HOLIDAYS?

So boys & girls, ONE holiay IS in fact mentioned 3 times in ep 123!!

I would have sworn the first time we see Laura is at the very end of an ep, walking up to the counter, and only at the last moment does she look toward the camera.

This is one of my favorite episodes. Classic soap opera stuff.

I remember Joan Bennett mentioning Christmas as well but I can't remember which character she was playing. Perhaps not.

Julia and Carolyn have a brief conversation about Christmas in 1969, during the early Leviathan episodes. Julia specifically asked Carolyn if she is doing her Christmas shopping early.

That is probably what I was remembering, Unc, because in the back of my large (and mostly empty) head I was thinking that Carolyn was there with Liz.

I know I'll be seeing it soon enough, but, I do believe I just realized a DSFMS.

For the loooonnggest time, I can picture Burke (Ryan), Vick, and Joe, looking at the various 'Laura' graves.

But, last ep I just watched, Frank Garner was there, and I was immediately struck by that HE is one of the two men with Vicki.

In which way is this a faulty memory?
(Now when I think of it, why should Joe be with them?)

Why you ask? Well, because Joe IS involved in the Laura storyline. Perhaps not in that particular instance, but I can see how your mind might have put him there...

Xmas is mentioned, at least indirectly, during an early Leviathan episode, from December of '69.  I think it was the last time any mundane holiday was mentioned on the show.

Funny, I don't remember Liz and Carolyn talking about Xmas. Though I do remember Xmas coming up when Carolyn and Julia first discuss the antique shop - and I also remember David and Carolyn talking about Xmas, though he was really just using it as a ploy to buy something for[spoiler]"the baby" for when it morphs into Alexander.[/spoiler]
