Happy Birthday, Joel Crothers!
« on: January 30, 2005, 07:14:39 PM »
I don't know if anyone wished Joel Crothers a happy birthday but I will.  January 28 was his birth-date back in 1941.  I think he was a great addition to the DS cast!  I loved him as Nathan Forbes.

Wherever he is, I hope he is doing well...[I know he's gone from this physical world but not his spirit]

Thank you for that eloquent tribute.  We were admiring your collage yesterday in this message:
Happy Birthday David!

I'm a fan of your work and check in on your message board from time to time to check it out.  It's great to see you posting here again!

Hi Midnite... :D

Thanks for the compliment...I have a fan?!!?  LOL  I enjoy making the collages and slide shows for Robin's Robservations.  I'd like to come back here more.  I'm a basically simple person and getting around on the board with so many folders is confusing.  I like the new buttons at the top of the page: "Show new posts since last visit" and "Show new replies to your posts".  I don't remember those the last time I was here.  It will make it easier for me to get around.

Thanks for posting about Joel C's birthday.  He was such a gifted actor, and it's very unfair that he died so young.

I think Joel Crothers was overlooked a great deal... his talents were immense!  I loved him as Nathan Forbes but was very surprised at how that character turned out.  Joe Haskell was a sweet, nice guy but sweet and nice don't get it much on a show like DS.

That's a lovely collage, Jackie, and the original one you did with Joe is great, too.

I recently decided that some of the best acting in the whole of DS was in the 1966 early courtship between Joe and Maggie scenes--and I'm not particularly a fan of KLS.  I think the rapport between the actress and Crothers made her relaxed enough to give from a more authentic place in those scenes.  Just my opinion.

Best wishes,

Steve
