Hello all!

I'm going to New York City on December 18 and coming back December 26, 2004.  One hightlight of my trip should be a visit to the Metropolitan Opera to see Renee Fleming in Rodelinda by Handel.  I've always wanted to go there.  However, I always dreamed it would be through the artist entrance and not the front door.  Alas, life happens when you are busy making other plans.

I doubt I'll have access to a computer and will be putting all my e-mail on auto-vacation responder.  I hope I make it for an entire 9 day period without a computer and don't end up like this guy.[santa_cheesy]

I wish you all a very happy holiday.[8_2_59] [8_2_73] [8_2_76] [8_2_59]

She sings.....la la la la.

Have a great time VW.  Better bundle up.  It's gotten awfully cold around these here parts.

Have a great time, Victoria Winters!

I've been only vaguely aware of who Renee Fleming is but saw something about her on TV recently.  It would seem she unites physical beauty with a beautiful voice -- I'm sure it will be a pleasure for you to see her live.

Went to her website and see she did two songs for the LOTR movies, but I've only seen the first movie, with Enya's song (think the books must be better, at least for the novice, so really didn't have much interest in the next two movies).

Vlad, you are in such good luck...  The same opera will be broadcast on the radio on January 1, 2005.  The Metropolitan Opera broadcasts live performances every Saturday from 1PM to 5PM ET when the opera is in season.

I personally really liked the LOTR movies even though it departed from the books and had to omit many of the sub-plots.  I'm looking forward to getting all of the extended versions for all three movies from Santa. [8_2_77]  Hopefully, he'll figure it out that I'm going to be in NY.

Thank you everyone for wishing me bon voyage.

Have a great time - that really sounds wonderful!!  I'm not a big fan of Handel period operas, but I can imagine her being good in something like that and have been curious about it.  Enjoy!!!! [santa_smiley] [santa_smiley] [santa_smiley]

The Big Apple during Christmas!  I'm so jealous, VictoriaWinters!  I use to do that every holiday season.  Have lotsa fun, and make sure you make it to Times Square Toys'R'Us!  I still won't go on that indoor ferris wheel because of my fear of heights.

Thanks for letting us know about the NPR broadcast.  Not sure what my family has planned for New Year's Day, but I'll try to catch it.  Although, if some of her photos are any indication, one would be missing a lot only hearing her voice -- kind of like hearing Lara Parker but not seeing her.

What fun to be in NYC during the holidays!
