FINALLY!! Dr. Mabuse!
« on: April 04, 2016, 10:16:50 PM »
I was just on FB, when there was a site for Dr. Mabuse + Epitomer (or, what ever it was), BOTH for $5.95 (there was $4.95 s/h). It's pre-ordered until I believe April 11th.

Two DVDs that I have been looking for BEFORE they ever came on DVD. I never told you how I would constantly on Amazon AND ebay.....no dice.

So, for those of you (like me) who never got to see it, or, you'd like to own it, again, it's a double feature for a little over $10.

If you're not on FB, and you need a link, let me know, and I'll put one on here.

Can't wait to see these movies with our DS Alums!!!

Thanks, Patti!  I just placed my order.  I did it through the movie's web site: http://www.doctormabuse-themovie.com

KMR, had you seen it/them in the movie theatres?

I hadn't...don't think they had much 'coverage'.

But, again, from people a couple/few years ago referring to Ansal and his likeness to F. Lang, that's how I was introduced to F Lang's work, a few movies which I now own.

Got my copy of the Doctor Mabuse Collection on Monday.  Haven't watched either of the films yet, but I did get a chance to pop it in the player for a few minutes.  I was a little disappointed to find that the video is not encoded for anamorphic widescreen (i.e., "enhanced for 16:9 televisions").  If you have a 4:3 set, the picture will cover the entire width of the screen, with black bars on top and bottom.  But if you have a 16:9 set, the picture will be windowboxed, i.e. black bars on all four sides.  At least it will be better than watching it online.

The disc includes a 45 minute documentary about the making of the films, with Jerry, Kathryn, Lara, and Christopher all appearing in it.

I'm getting quite worried, because I still haven't received my copy.

Again, as I posted, I knew is wasn't out until 4/11, but that's 10 days now....

PS Quickly went to Oldiesdotcom or whatever; there's my order, it said I needed to call it in?? I asked why they hadn't contacted me....I've been to the site a few times since the order, I hadn't seen this before.

KMR...may I ask how much you paid, and, did you get both movies?

Thanks,

Patti

Woop!! Woop!!

So, my husband let me spend his $10.93 for my double feature!!

Now, in between 4-7 sentences, can someone just give me the 'gist' of "Doctor Mabuse"? Should I watch Etioper (whatev) first; since I don't know what any of them are about, would it matter?

Mini poll: and, this is for any/all versions of Dr. Mabuse. Which is your favorite? Why?

It's going to be so great to see our alums on TWO newish movies (in addition to their 'walk on part in a war, for a lead roll in a cage', to para-phrase a song).

Woop!!!!!!!!

Um...
uh...
well, then....

I could only take about 20 minutes so far.

KLS looked beautiful; all I've seen of Lara was with the green palor over her.

Is this supposed to be 'film noir' of nowadays? I could tell A. Faraj shot in real rooms (and I just went to IMDb & they supported this fact).

I'm guestimating it takes place in late 30s-early 40s (no technology of any kind which I saw, EXCEPT, the room the inspector goes to question KLS & LP, they're FAKE candles...I don't care what you do; a real candle will ALWAYS flicker. Other reason is the hats.

At some point, I watch it again....unless someone tells me to watch Etioper (or whatever) first.
