Trask and Abigail in today's world
« on: December 19, 2015, 03:13:53 AM »
I don’t intend to open up a controversial “can of worms” in this post, but after watching (for the first time in many years) DS episode 385, in which Abigail and Trask—in their religious fervor—accuse Victoria of being a witch, I cannot help but compare Abigail and Trask to Kimberly Davis, the religious fanatic in Kentucky, who used her religious beliefs to deny marriage licenses to gay couples.  How appropriate that DS, which (I believe) has a large gay following, made such comments about religious fanatics almost 50 years ago!

Abigail had a much better hairstyle.

Abigail and Trask both had better wardrobe choices and much more flair with words than that tired old bigot Davis.

But at least Kim Davis made for a much easier (and recognizable by other people) Halloween costume for me this year than either Trask or Abigail would have been...  [santa_grin]

I believe these types of situations are where colorful bon mots are derived from.

One springs right to mind, "Money talks [Collins] and BS walks....  [santa_thumb]

And, besides colorful euphemisms, truth: "FIRST, get the PLANK out of your OWN EYE, then, when you can see, take the splinter out of someone else's eye". WORD!

Good one, Patti.  Too bad the very idea of a witty remark seems to be getting flushed from the culture, and it's the kind of thing that, increasingly, someone like KD wouldn't follow, or see any reason to try to understand.  I think comprehension in general is being given a bad name.
