Clearing Out Question
« on: September 21, 2004, 02:36:33 PM »
I'm having alot of computer issues (slow, lock up, etc). So I just cleaned out history/cookies and files. Then in the address bar, I came here (it didn't remember/automatically finish the address). When I clicked on main screen, it knew I was Patti....usually/normally after clearing cookies/history, I have to log in again.... ??? Pourquoi-pas?

Unless the cookie is on your hard drive, there's no way the forum's system would automatically recognize a member because all the info needed to be recognized is only stored in the cookie. For some reason perhaps the forum's cookie wasn't deleted. Or perhaps you didn't delete all of them. For instance, deleting cookies in IE/Windows will not delete other browser's cookies (i.e. Netscapes' cookies are stored in a text file named cookies.txt that's *normally* stored in the C:WindowsApplication DataMozillaProfilesdefault(coded name - something like 0q7n6ggt).slt directory).
