Interesting. The person suggested is certainly a powerful actor.

Thanks for sharing the link, dom!  [hall2_smiley]

I'm not a fan of cannibal movies, but it's certainly an interesting idea.

after the exhausting failure of the 2004 pilot and the two year run up to the depp/burton film my energy and enthusiasm for speculative castings and "what if" musings has been tapped dry. I really don't see another take on the story in the near future.  [hall_lipsrsealed]

In theory, this sounds great. But, after the extreme reaction that the last two DS incarnations received, I don't know if the fan base would support another interpretation. Maybe in another ten years or so.

the Frid fanbase is particularly inflexible and overzealous...

if I see "JONATHAN FRID IS BARNABAS. END OF STORY!" one more time i'll gag. you can't have it both ways. a new story AND endless lamentations about the original cast.

Especially since Jonathan didn't make that big a deal out of it. He used to refer to himself as the Johnny Weismuller of Dark Shadows and was probably more gracious to the other actors than a lot of fans have been.

in general the cast themselves seem to take it WAY less seriously than the fans...

when the meltdown over the film began I recall KLS (who of course had a book about it to promote) becoming quite exasperated.  [hall_rolleyes]

For the most part, the actors see this for what it was. A job. Yes, there have been unexpected benefits many years later but it was something that they did to pay the rent. Some hardcore fans get bent out of shape when an actor can't recall an arcane plot twist from 40 years ago. They probably didn't know the answer then, if they ever did.

I'm kind of done with remakes too.  I have a few ideas for a proper "re-imagining", but I'm not in any hurry to see someone else have a go at it.   Too much disappointment.  [easter_tongue]
