Here are a couple of the scans I mentioned the other day.  These two are from the June 1970 issue of 16 Magazine.

Hope you enjoy ~ I will have lots more later.  I'm trying to organize them a little better ~ maybe come up with a kind of slide show format so you can page through them faster.

(I was going to post these as images here, but in this case they're easier to read if you see them at their full size.)

I got a poignant lump in the throat at the mention of sending letters to Don Briscoe; this issue must have gone to press just before his departure from the show.  I think the June issue came out in early May, and presumably the layout was done sometime in April.

Many Thanks ;D These bring back many memories. I had a subscription to both Tiger Beat and 16 back then and used to read every word about the DS stars and Donny Osmond. I got over my crush on Donny, but thank heavens I haven't gotten over DS.

Thanks, Castlebee.  I was always too embarrassed to buyTiger Beat and 16 magazine. :-[  I used to get my best friend to buy them for me. Thanks to you, Castlebee, I get to see what I missed out on.  I am anxiously waiting for more. ;D

I know what you mean.  These were purchased when I was in 9th grade and had just turned the ripe old age of 15. If the truth were known, I swiped them from my sister who was 12 and in 7th grade at the time.  ;D

I was working on the rest of the scans yesterday afternoon and should have them ready to go today - especially if work is as slow today as it was then.  I'll put the link to them in a new post when I'm finished.

I got subscriptions to 16 and Spec to avoid the potential embarrassment of buying them in the store. My God what if someone I knew saw me!?! The Spec subscription turned out to be a great buy. There must have been a glitch in their subscription department because my 1 year subscription lasted over 2 years.
