I figure some people might be interested in this new series:

'Good Witch' basics: Everything you need to know before the series premiere

Even though I've shared links about them before, I can't say I know much about the Hallmark channel's movies the series is based on - but then, I also can't say I've watched much of anything on Hallmark. But the article seems to give a good rundown to bring people up to speed...

Hallmark has some good stuff with reruns of classic TV shows.  And then it makes these schmaltzy movies about he-doesn't-love-her-and-she doesn't-love-him-but-then-he-loves-her-and-she-loves-him tripe.  If Hallmark makes it, ignore it.

Though apparently (like cheesy science fiction) some people must enjoy schmaltz - because if they didn't, (SyFy and) the Hallmark channel wouldn't still be around churning out the stuff.  [snow_wink]  And like anything else, some are probably better than others...

You're so right, MB.  For Hallmark, the factory churns out movies about 20/30-something meeting her and the 20/30-something meeting him, and then they meet other people but end up together, especially if it's around a holiday.  For SyFy, a bunch of sculpted 20-somethings meet a monster, most of them get killed and then what's left blows it up in a cave or barn.  And don't forget that most of these flics have some has-been actor/actress in them.

Unfortunately, the Hallmark brand in television--which used to be generally relied upon to indicate quality--has become diluted.  While I believe that Hallmark Hall of Fame still attempts to live up to the old standards, confusion with the general programming on the Hallmark channels doesn't help out the casual viewer.

This is certainly off the main topic of this topic, but here's an example where Hallmark might be doing a really good thing -

Hallmark rescues Tom Selleck's 'Jesse Stone' movie franchise

- because on CBS that series of movies has been excellent and completely without the slightest once of schmaltz. And who knows, if they're going to be an example of the types of moveis the new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries network could be doing, it might actually be a version of Hallmark worth checking out...
