Despite all the changes made, it appears to me that the Collins family we leave behind in 1897 isn't as different as they were in the original timeline.  Barnabas, Angelique, & Quentin are gone for good, Beth is dead.  Jamison never forgave Quentin.  The villains are all dealt with and gone as well.  Magda & Charity are still there but they probably were originally as well, though Judith may have eventually gotten to reform Charity somewhat like her old self.  1897 Barnabas is unknowingly chained in the coffin in the secret room as all connections to him are gone (I believe when 1968 body Barnabas went back to 1897, his 1897 self had to be returned to where it was taken from, the I Ching restoring the room back as it was.)

I still see the same setup for 1966 as the core of the family is basically the same.

I'm not sure.  First of all, Quentin had died in the original 1897 time-line.  From what happened in 68/69, his was the body found by David and Amy (after he had been killed, apparently by Beth who had then committed suicide).  Since Barnabas had not gone back to work with Magda to find a cure, there would have been no Petofi.  Well, maybe there would've been, but it didn't work since Quentin died.   The changing of history by Barnabas going back created a lotta paradoxes.

I thought Jamison did forgive Q.  Maybe it's just that Quentin said he would do everything he could to make up with Jamison as a part of his second chance at life, and I assumed he did it.

For me, any attempt to make sense of Barnabas leaving 1897 physically rather than getting back into the box smacks of "a wizard did it".

We only see Magda as not having skipped town because we hear her disembodied voice later in 1969.  They should have left well enough alone.  Why would she still be squatting at the Old House?

David was saved, Quentin made immortal.  The big problem was Barnabas not getting back into the coffin.

That thing with Barnabas' body also existed in the 1840/41 story-line.  He used the I-Ching again to go back to '40 and occupied his body.  That left his body in 1970.  But then he returned to '71 in his body.  So now he had two bodies?  Well, in my what-if-DS-continued thing I did, I solve that problem.

It's hard to say. Without Barnabas, Angelique and Julia on the scene, Carl, Dirk and Rachel may not have died. Or they would have died under different circumstances.

Without Barnabas around, Kitty would probably have married Edward. Maybe Nora and Jamison would have been sent off to boarding school.

Judith may still have done away with her husband but she would have to have done it somewhere else.

For 1897, I just take it that the I Ching sent 1897 B back to the coffin after 1969 B was sent back in time.
And he was still a vampire due to there being no Adam.  They never had a scene in the secret room of the mausoleum once this happens.

My theory:
1840- B had to tell A everything, so he repeated the 1897 scenario of using the I Ching with A throwing the wands off the table (as Edward did), resulting in 1970 B body going back in time sending 1840 B back to the coffin.  No Adam = vampire B again.  Then A removed the curse.
