Nick to Cass on not telling her where Adam is: "I gave my word I wouldn't tell anyone!" he says sarcastically and jokingly, but the joke is subtle and meant only for Cass and the viewers.   He shows only the barest sign that he wants to chuckle, for a nanosecond.   Gave his word indeed....

Roger arrives, the first returning-from-Bangor I remember.   Did we ever actually see the resolution of Liz having poisoned herself, and being sent to a hospital?  All I remember is her falling in the Tower Room, poisoned, as Naomi did, end credits.

Nick knows just what to say to a seven-foot newborn, to start him on his road to selfishness, egotism, and power-hungriness.   It probably would never have occured to Adam to think he might be better than other people.   I like the moment just before the commercial, a quick shot of the fire with nice disturbing music, followed by the camera panning to Nick's evil face in close-up, making us wonder what horrific things he might be panning to do.

Cassandra, axe murderer!!

I missed the Roger going to Bangor. It was a total surprise to see him come in the door and makes me realize how little the original cast is being used in the present story. Where did the axe come from? Is she channeling Matt Morgan?  It must be the Joan Crawford Movie where she is going around cutting off heads and blaming it on her daughter. I guess casting a spell is just to boring and some real blood is needed.
you know there's a whole wing that's closed off all the time; the west wing, I go there lots of times

Either Nick feels a disturbance in the magical ether when Cass uses magic, or the physical evidence afterward would clue him in that magic caused it.   What was funny for me was that she was so certain this act, done this way, would cover her tracts, as if Nick and the whole household would find it perfectly plausible that they had an axe-murdering maniac in the locked part of their house.

Nicholas starts his campaign of winning Adam over to the Dark Side.

I also like how Carolyn goes into Mistress of Collinwood mode while her mother is in the hospital and her uncle is in Bangor. She's learned from the best.

Nice stuff with Carolyn and Adam. Adam makes his way to Carolyn’s room. [One imagines Adam opening a series of doors looking for Carolyn's room in Collinwood. Judging from the appearance of the hallway outside her room--which we see for the first time--it is in a different part of the house from the hallway usually seen, outside Vicki's and David's rooms. Perhaps this is when Adam met David (for the first time since their short meeting in the woods). ] Carolyn is sound asleep in bed when Adam comes to her room and nearly frightens her to death. He just urgently needs to tell her about the stranger who discovered him. Since Carolyn is Mistress of Collinwood in her mother's and Roger's absence (see below), she listens carefully to Adam's story and praises him for coming to tell her. She asks him to wait for her in her room.

Carolyn promptly goes downstairs and speaks furiously to Nicholas. (The tall foyer clock reads 12:00, but it chimes only eleven times as she descends the stairs!) She flatly refuses to believe his story about admiring old architecture. He is somewhat disappointed, explaining, I had hoped to win you over completely. But I’m a patient man--I can wait. But Carolyn is impervious to temptation--at least to what he's offering. For appearance' sake, he promises to abide by her wish and stay away from the West Wing.

Carolyn returns to her room and escorts Adam back to his room. She assures him he did the right thing in coming to tell her, leaving him overflowing with admiration.

I do like Cassangelique's black velvet robe trimmed with lace. It's just the thing to wear when you're contemplating an axe murder. But I suspect Nicholas senses a disturbance in the Force the moment she raises that rather formidable hatchet. (Too bad it wasn't available for the 1795 scene where Ben is supposed to be splitting kindling!)

I liked how she wouldn't even give him time to get his architecture excuse out of his mouth, before cutting him off.   And thanks for the handy tip on axe murder wardrobe...

Parker does good work opposite HAA.
I thought Liz was at Julia's hospital but I guess not.
I concur with Magnus' comments on Adam and Nicholas.
This episode went well. Everyone did admirably.
The final scene was a bit over the top, but, well...

That's some hiding place Carolyn found for Adam. He's had more unexpected visitors than the castaways on "Gilligan's Island"!
