OT: Luciaphil gets a job!

Well, I have a job already, two jobs, but now, now I have been offered and accepted a position as a full-time reference librarian in an academic library.

I'm extremely psyched. It's in my hometown so I don't need to move. I know the people I'll be working with. It's the type of library work I want to be doing.

This, this is a very good thing. It is going to make the student loan folks, those nice people at Visa and Mastercard, assorted others--closer and dearer to my heart, and of course, me very, very happy.

Congratulations, Luciaphil!  It's very difficilt to find the job you want that's located where you want it.  I hope you thoroughly enjoy it.

As for those folks to whom you owe money, let them wait a bit longer and go out for a celebratory dinner in your own honor!

Congratulations from another librarian, Luciaphil!  That sounds like a terrific job.  I spend most of my time as cataloguer in a membership/research library but put in stints as reference librarian from to time and love doing it, too.  Working in an academic library is IMO one of the best choices you can make.  Besides the perks of working in a collegial atmosphere, you should also have some measure of job security, which is a good thing to have in these economically challenging times!
