E-mail Q
« on: August 27, 2003, 02:50:29 AM »
For the first time, I'm trying to send multi-recipient e-mail.

Maybe I had bob the bartender misspelled, but I also tried Midnite (sans at ds boards, just midnite).

Let's  say I wanted to send an e-mail to Birdie & Raineypark.

In to field, is it:

Raineypark, Birdie  (cause there's something about recipient1, recipient2).

And, how 'case-sensitive' is this board?

Thanks,

Patti

That's exactly how you would IM Raineypark and Birdie. The thing is, though, that when you're sending any IM, the name you enter as a recipient is the person's username, not what they're using as their "real name" (the name that appears in their posts). For most members, their usernames and real names are the same. However, in my case my real name displays as Mysterious Benefactor, but my username (the name you would use if you wanted to IM me) is MysteriousB. And to IM Midnite, you must enter admin. ;)

The reason you received errors when you tried to IM Bob is because his username is actually Bob_the_Bartender. You have to include those two underscores - the one between "Bob" and "the" and the one between "the" and "Bartender".

The easiest way to look up anyone's username is to check out their profile.

Completely. So far as the system is concerned, "Patti", with a capital P, and "patti", with a small p, would be two totally different members.

I hope this helps. :)
