Yes, it's a real song, originally recorded by the Crystals in the early '60's. More recently covered by Courtney Love.

(And sadly, Magnus, there are too many of them from back then. Last weekend I watched 60s Girl Grooves (one of the Jim Pierson produced My Music specials) on PBS, and, whoa, some of the lyrics! I can only believe that the songs had to be written by men.)

Thank you so much, MB! I love '60s girl groups (especially the Shangrilas) but I must have somehow missed the PBS special. I'll have to see if I can track it down on YouTube. Btw, there is a slight connection between girl groups and DS. One of the Bsides of one of the Crystals' 45 is an instrumental called Dr. Kaplan's office. Its the same Dr. Kaplan who was married to Nancy Barrett.
