I think I recall something about the producer hoping to arrange for a DVD release. I doubt anything is certain yet.

BTW, for anyone searching, the BIGGEST blunder I was committing was typing in "Dr. Mabuse" instead of DOCTOR Mabuse.

Hence:

its in very limited release. I would have gone to the los angeles viewing if I had not seen it last week and if it was an earlier showing and not at midnight. it will probably end up on dvd but I think its too soon for that.

I don't know if it is appropriate to mention it here, but I have heard that there is talk of Pierson giving the Summer Tarrytown event the official "DS Festival" imprimatur.  Hopefully if that is the case, it will be clarified in a Shadowgram announcement.

Mentioned this to one of the planners, who was taken completely by surprise by it.  ShadowGram was asked to announce the event, but that's the extent of the Festival's involvement.  The rumor is totally unsubstantiated.

Thanks for clearing that up, Midnite.

Am I the only person who's taken aback, though, by the new announcement (presumably the source of the rumor) that the Festival is doing ANOTHER Tarrytown event next year?

I love Lyndhurst and the related sites, but the area is so pedestrian un-friendly--I just feel zero interest in going out there again with all the transpo hassles.  Maybe I'm in a tiny minority with that among DS fans, though.

I appreciated Prof Stokes' candid and thoughtful assessment. Despite the small scale production, I'm much more interested in seeing this than ... that "other one."

Since this thread is about the movie, here's one for discussion of the 2014 Fest--

It's getting 'closer' on Amazon.
Prior to today, if you put pre-order in the parameters, it wasn't coming up w/anything within the 2000s (except for the 2000 release).
Now it's showing a release from 2007.
....closer.....
Can't wait....never heard of DOCTOR Mabuse before THESE COOL BOARDS!!!!

Doctor Mabuse cast member Linden Chiles passed way on Wed, age 80. He will be seen in Ansel Faraj's sci-fi drama The Rising Light, out in December, which co-stars KL Scott. Chiles completed his work on the film a month or two ago.
He may yet appear in the about to be shot Doctor Mabuse 2, for which he shot some test footage before he passed.
Linden Chiles has 143 credits at IMDB, including the original Twilight Zone & V, Hitchcock's Marnie, The Invaders, The Munsters, and My Favorite Martian.
RIP.

Doctor Mabuse comes to DVD in November.

Marnie...

Patti

Thank you for the info; I'm glad he had a full life. Not many who can attest to playing on original Twilight Zone.

The only way I'd have ever heard of Doctor Mabuse is from this board.
Why is that?
I've certainly not seen any type of ads on TV for the movie. I had called the 2 closest cinemas to me; neither knew of the movie nor the intent to screen them.

What's the plot here?

I know someone on a different topic mentioned Mabuse will be available for home purchase in November, but, how many of you have Doctor Mabuse playing at cinemas near you?

Thanks,
Patti

Doctor Mabuse played at the Coronado Theater in San Diego and the Los Feliz Theater in Los Angeles.
It comes to DVD in November.
Writer/director Ansel Faraj, who's only 21 years old, booked those theaters himself, but he has a major DVD distributor for the film, and it's now in production sequel, on board.
I've seen the film: the kid is a genius.
Give him time!

Linden Chiles also appeared in WASHINGTON BEHIND CLOSED DOORS with our beloved Thayer, Selby, and Lara, which, oddly enough I've been watching over the last few weeks.

I was so thrilled when Washington Behind Closed Doors was finally relased on DVD!  I think I'll pull it out again too. It's a great DS AND Man/Girl From U.N.C.L.E. reunion!  The Primula Report lives on!  I just wish they'd done the planned sequel.
