Episode #0001: Victoria Winters begins her mysterious journey as her train takes her to Collinsport, she meets the brooding Burke Devlin, and she arrives at Collinwood.

Episode #0262: Vicki agrees to be a witness at Liz's wedding, Carolyn and Vicki mourn Maggie's "death", and Carolyn sees Buzz for the last time.

Episode #0523: Nicholas Blair summons the spirit of the Reverend Trask and hypnotizes Tony Peterson in an effort to learn where Cassandra is.
(Jeff is tiresome, as usual.)

Episode #0785: Magda hides a disfigured Evan Hanley at the Old House, Edward is outraged to learn that Judith has alterred her will in favor of Trask, and Magda attempts to cure Quentin with the hand of Count Petofi.

Episode #1045: Angelexis demands that Will reveal Barnabas' secret and vows to Barnabas that she will discover it, Julia and Barnabas attempt to revive Roxanne Drew.

Thanx, MB, for the great Anniversary montage. Episode 0ne is my all-time favorite episode and my all-time favorite moment from the series is captured in the first frame. I'm jumping with joy. Why? Because I choose to do so!

I like all of the 'anniversary' episodes but my favorite would have to be the first episode. I also like #262, which I believe was Anthony George's first episode. #523 and #785 were also good, and I haven't seen #1045 yet.

For me, the opening episode is Dark Shadows at its best - it's just so theatrical and rich, with some standout dialogue ("broomsticks and unicorns... and chauffeur-driven cars"), a palpable atmosphere, and thanks to Lela Swift's amazing direction, Collinwood looks cavernous - the sets really never looked better. Add to that a stunning turn from Joan Bennett at her most regal, and Louis Edmonds positively oozing sarcasm and disdain, and you simply have the perfect start to the series.

The first episode is my favorite. I agree with Stuart --the moody atmosphere, the sets, and the acting by Bennett and Edmonds (and Mitch Ryan) make for the perfect first episode.

Speaking of atmosphere--I was watching the scene this morning between Angelique and Alexis when suddenly little red and white people ran across Alexis' face. Kind of interrupts the mood. ::)

Thought the montage was great! :)

Has to be the first episode!  It's just so atmospheric and heavily laden with the promise of all the spooky goings-on yet to come.  Think I'll watch it again this weekend.

My feelings exactly! I especially love the first shots of the interior of Collinwood.  Even the slightly odd camera angles add to the growing sense of uneasiness. It was a great beginning!

I was surprised to see some paragraphs devoted to Dark Shadows in the entertainment section of the Burlington County Times.  It's nice to see DS recognized.   :)

My favorite episode?  Well, I'll hafta say that it's episodes, because it's a neck-and-neck tie.  The first episode, of course, because of its style, writing, direction, cinematogrophy, etc.  The second is the 1897 revelation of the will in which Judith gets it all.  And then she gives it to her siblings in what I consider the best single scene of the entire series.  The altercation between the Walton-children-run-amock was just so perfectly well written and acted that whenever I view it, I rewind and watch it over and over again.  "Keep it up, Quentin, and you'll end end up with less than nothing."

Having never seen the first episode I cannot vote for it.  My favorite has to be when Barnabas meets the Collins family of 1967.
