OT: Vampires on General Hospital
« on: January 09, 2013, 05:04:48 PM »
Daytime TV is suddenly more interesting than it's been in a long time. Lynn Herring is back on General Hospital is back as Lucy Coe. When last seen on the spinoff series Port Charles, the character had been reimagined as a vampire slayer. Lucy's Buffie-like past is going to be addressed. This could be interesting, since three of the actors who played vampires on Port Charles are now on Hospital as other characters. Is Lucy crackers? Are there vampires on the DL? Did Lucy stumble across an alternate universe where vampires exist?

Very interesting - please keep us informed, Uncle Roger.  [snow_smiley]

As for the Port Charles storyline, we've talked about it here in this topic:
Soapnet Begins Airing Reruns of Vampire Soap #2, Port Charles
And I even posted some screen caps that I'd originally posted on the VantageNet version of the forum back when the storyline was originally shown.

For those who wish to explore further, there are also Port Charles clips up on Youtube.  I don't know which years are relevant but I saw years 2000 and 2003 mentioned.

It was 2000-2003. After PC was cancelled, all the vampires eps were rerun on Soap Net.
The first two story arcs were quite good, romantic & scary, but after vampire Caleb was turned into a leather clad rock star, it all fell apart.

On the other hand, PC's final, never-concluded story arc, included a love story between a vampire & a female werewolf. It was very promising, a return to form, so I hope GH concludes that story.

Soaps are definitely coming back. GH's ratings have skyrocketed & there's quite a buzz around the AMC/One Life relaunch.

Keck's Exclusives: General Hospital Golden Anniversary Plans Revealed

TV Guide Magazine: What's up with this talk of a vampire storyline related to the events of the short-lived GH spin-off Port Charles?
Valentini: We're not doing vampires. Because we have Michael (Easton, who plays John) and Lynn who were both on Port Charles with Kelly, we're just doing a nod.

Oh well...

The vampire aspect of the storylines on Port Charles actually worked very well. Though, of course, that show wasn't GH, so if real vampires were introduced on GH, it might not work at all. Though if vampires were actually introduced, it would hardly be the most outlandish thing they've ever done on GH. The whole Ice Princess and freezing the world, anyone!  [snow_wink]  [snow_silly]  [snow_cheesy]

Oh, did Sam Hall screw up GH like he did OLTL? [a1f5] [wink2]

(Even 'La Liz' couldn't get me to watch that tripe.)

I didn't watch GH when Sam Hall was there (but he did write some great stuff while he was head writer on one of my all-time favorite soaps, Santa Barbara, which was often compared to DS in that it often broke the soap rules).

I was kidding about Sam Hall writing for GH. I was trying to tie in the idiocy of time travel on OLTL to the lunacy of freezing the world on GH, etc.

As far as I know, Sam Hall DID NOT write for GH (just to be clear for the record).
