The 24 hours after the murder of Steve Burke was the longest "day" in soap opera history, huh, Unc? lol. I still refer back to it to this very day whenever I talk about how a 24 hour day on a soap can last for weeks. (At least that is how I remember the murder day.) I am so grateful for today's pacing when things usually come to a head quickly, or at least a lot quicker than they used to.

I wonder how the pacing will change in an on-line presentation? You might think that they would keep things popping to keep folks coming back, but that could be said for all media, I guess. I also wonder how long they will keep episodes available for viewing? A limit might be a good thing for determining 'stats'.

Very good point dom...I probably wouldn't watch daily; I might 'pig out' on weekends or my one day a week off.

Alright, before OLTL gets going (YEAH!!), I'm checking out HuluPlus 7.99/month!.
I'm also at iTunes, but I don't have it and I don't see a price for watching ?TV? show??
Anyone know how to figure this out?

Thanks,
Patti

I have watched OLTL for OVER 40 years...but I'm not going to pay $8.00 + tax to watch....waaaah!!!

PS...just put in TV shows in the Search parameters....all it stated was AppleTV $99!

The new episodes of AMC and OLTL will be available for viewing on Hulu and iTunes starting April 29. Chances are that they will end up on YouTube at some point and possibly be rebroadcast on a cable station.

interesting comment about the "constraints" of traditional broadcast television...

i know nothing about the format these series are being presented in but does that imply a "stronger" content perhaps than what can be seen on an ordinary network afternoon soap opera?

meaning more intense language, violence, and storyline? nudity or sexual content? the sort of things than are seen on cable series? curious.

...not really clear. The article stated 'via Hulu, Hulu Plus'....for 'free download', but HuluPlus is a pay service...

I only want to see half the cast nude.

I've been seeing a lot of ads for a free trial of Hulu Plus. Might be worth looking into.

The new incarnations of the shows are going to be more edgy than they were on ABC. Exactly how edgy remains to be seen but I would not be surprised with nude scenes or more adult language. They haven't said much about specific storylines yet, except that OLTL's Destiny Evans is supposed to be in a 21st century take on the Karen Wolek story from the early '80's.

Very interesting about the possible plot-line for Destiny. I was going to moan about 'rehashing' but nothing is ever new really; What hasn't been done a million times?

(And now I am fondly remembering Marco Dane, lol.) (And how fun would it be for them to bring back Billy Clyde to AMC?! I don't remember how he exited, but like people don't come back from the dead -- something not exclusive to DS, lol.)

Since like David Canary and Erika Slezak, Matthew Cowles lives in Connecticut, it's certainly not impossible for Billy Clyde to make a comeback if TPTB decide to go in that direction.

You're 100% right, dom. Soap characters come from the dead all the time. Darnell Williams' Jesse Hubbard died on camera but showed up alive and well many years later.

i thought dixie was dead too...

digressing back to the subject of nudity i'd really rather not see "my" soap stars in the buff either. it's not that kind of onscreen relationship. something about it makes me uncomfortable. [snow_undecided]
