The porch light's on, but Vicki's not home

I should be putting together my presentation for my BI class, but I've got the tv on for background noise and I must speak ;)

Okay, so Vicki has gone back in time and is still grieving from a loss (dubious as it was) and all that other good stuff. Obviously the woman is not operating with all synapses firing and who can fault her for that.

But (and you that was coming), surely, she has realized by now that her position in the house is precarious and they already think she's cuckoo so you would think that Vicki would just shut her darn mouth, wouldn't you?

(sigh)

I'm with you, Luciaphil. I really have a problem with Vicki's incessant jabbering. All she's doing is getting herself into further trouble. I want to shout at the TV screen, "SHUT UP, Vicki!"

But she prattles on.

Love, Robin

What a great way of putting it, Luciaphil! Or, as Scotty of Star Trek might have said, "she's not operating on all thrusters!"

Hi, Luciaphil I agree Vicki thinks she knows it all
and each time she does open her trap door the woman
gets more into trouble. but however, i do love that
period though 1795. Because of the clothes that the
ladies wore. Just wish that my sweetie Quentin was
in that yr ( OH YUMMY)!!! Love Anne

Yanno, I'm just waiting for the scene, with all the family and friends standing in the drawing room, Vicki amongst them, and another character enters, Vicki doing her usual shocked reaction. When the new character asks her what is wrong, she shakes her head and starts saying: "I'm sorry. You just..." And everyone else, eyes rolling, chimes in: "...remind me of somebody I know. Sheesh!"

Guess I should throw a

***SPOILER WARNING***

in here, but if ya don't see this comin' you may be more clueless than Vickie!

***

With several beautiful, leggy, unnecessarily overly madeup, undulating ladies dressed in tight black outfits in the background [all played, of course, by TLATKLS] and an obviously loud snare drum banging in the front of the mix [for the rhythmicly challenged], a snappy-dressed Robert Palmer croons:

[spoiler]The porchlite's on,
Vicki's not home.
Her will is not her own

She's in the past,
and she should learn
all witches
they like to burn

She speaks her mind
to Abagail
She's gonna land
her butt in jail

To a so-called-rev
she'll say some things
then from a rope
she'll maybe swing

A beauty, blonde
has come to stay
and point to her
and then she'll say

You're gonna have to face it
you're accused of witchcraft

Might as well face it
Gonna have to face it

You-ou like to say
'I think I've met you before'
Don't you realize
Yer standing on a trap door [whoa yeah!!]

Might as well face it
Gonna have to face it

you need to recognise
you'll be accused of witchcraft[/spoiler]

LOL! Yes, the last time I saw 1795, that drove me nuts. The woman is a teacher -- of sorts, anyway -- so she must have studied 17th century events in Massachusetts at some point. Even considering that she's landed in Maine 100 or so years after the Salem witch hunts, and giving allowances for a certain amount of grief over Burke and understandable befuddlement at finding herself 172 years in the past, a few moments in the presence of nosy Abigail and the fanatical Reverend Trask should have been enough to warn anyone who wasn't a complete moron to quit blurting out the first thing that came to mind.

Cheers,

Linda

This is probably one instance where the 1991 series improved upon the original. [a0d0]

Sorry, library schoolspeak. BI=Bibliographic Instruction. Librarians teach patrons how to use libraries, sources, technology, etc. The class is basically how to teach.
