The other day, after DS, Sci-Fi ran several hours of the late '60's Irwin Allen show, Land of the Giants. I watched it as a kid. But seeing bits of it again made me think of Gilligan's Island. So what is the connection?
Well, with regards to that island, there were seven people who were going out on a three-hour tour, and yet after being shipwrecked, they had a seemingly endless supply of clothes, not only for everyday wear (including Mrs. Howell's closet full of furs, Mr. Howell's formal tuxedoes, Mary Ann with everything from farmer's jeans to semi-formal dresses, and Ginger with her elegant gowns), but for creating costumes whenever the need arose.
As for that planet, here you have seven spaceship-wrecked people who were traveling from New York to London. Undoubtedly, all of them would've had luggage, including the crew. Yet, for the entire two seasons they were trapped on that world of biggun's, they almost always wore the same clothes day in and day out.
So what happened? Was United Airlines in charge of luggage, and somehow misdelivered the suitcases of the seven planet-stranded people to the seven island-stranded people?
Well, that's enough intellectual brainwork for today.
