I never watched "King of Queens," but we often put the late night TV Land old comedies on, and they’ve recently started to show it. In this particular episode there was a lot more than a brief mention of DS.
A week or so ago they showed one where the wife was trying to be more tolerant of the things her husband wanted to do. She was talking with another woman who was going with one of the husband’s friends.
The other woman said they were coming to their 6 week (!) anniversary, but he wanted to go to a Dark Shadows convention, so she was understanding of that. The wife first asked what DS was and the answer was a soap opera, long time ago, vampires and things.
The wife said she wouldn’t want him going with a bunch of dorks dressed up as Count Chocula. And she very sarcastically was saying that he could go but when he came back she would say that she was “going to punch your fangs down your throat.”
Apparently the other woman did that, because the guy was complaining to his friends that he had to spend the 6 week anniversary with her and that she had threatened to punch his fangs down his throat. It wasn’t like Star Trek with lots of conventions. If he missed this, he’d have to wait 3 years and chat rooms weren’t enough for him. He had already spent $70 on a Barnabas Collins costume.
The one guy suggested he have someone call that they are sorry he had to cancel, and that would impress her. Then a few days later they were to call again and say that he couldn’t get a refund and she’d be sorry and let him go.
Well, evidently that’s what happened, because at the end of the program he was wearing a black cape and fangs while she was yelling at him about the woman who had called with the fake messages.
