umm...I think it's laudable that she'd talk on this, but, um why is she?
(She didn't live in Europe durring WWII nor is she a Jew, right?) ?!?

No, but because Moltke is Danish, it is quite possible that her relations played a part in saving Jews and others from the death camps.  Fortunately, I have heard that this was not unusual in WWII Denmark.

She's speaking because the theater is screening two of her documentaries.  Though her films aren't always limited to the subject of the holocaust, Happybat is right about her intimate connection-- her father (Count Carl Adam Moltke) worked in the Danish Resistance during WWII, and Alexandra was smuggled to the U.S. as an infant to keep her safe during the Nazi occupation.

She also wrote, produced, and directed Scandalize My Name, Stories of the Blacklist, which runs on BET from time to time and is very poignant.  Porraimos sounds very fascinating, especially in light of our recent discussion about the Romani gypsies.

Looking at the serious, complex subjects Alexandra Moltke has chosen to illuminate in her documentary films,  one wonders how she endured the stultifying, "but I don't understand" drudgery of her Dark Shadows role as long as she did.  It must have started out as a great lark.....but it's easy to see now why she grew bored so quickly.

Well in fairness, she didn't exactly suffer in silence towards the end of her run on DS -- there's a really hilarious article from the time where she bitches royally about Vicki's stupidity and her recent storylines ;)

LOL, yes I remember reading one of those articles.

In fact, quite a few of the DS actors would surprise fans as to how different they are from their famous characters, and how extensive their personal interests are.  Can you imagine Barnabas writing the kind of things Frid does on his website?

Well, MAYBE--- if Barnabas had stayed long enough in any time period, and was "healthy" enough, to catch up with current and cultural events, and was permitted to get away from the estate and pursue other interests beside vapid and vacuous ingenues, and protecting the family tree.

The character was presented as being very intelligent, though with NO sense of humor, alas, unless one counts incidents of gloating.

THAT'S certainly a BIG difference between the actor and
the character he played.
