DS Fan and Forum Cousin Rainingwolf Passed Away

I just found out that Rainingwolf (Ginger Chapman) died in her sleep over the weekend.   Her son posted the news of her passing on her Facebook page Saturday afternoon.

I hesitated to start this thread, because I was unsure whether to mention her real name, even now.  I wanted to link to her FB page.   The mods said alright, but I'll follow your lead, Nancy, and edit what I said on FB:

Rainingwolf, RIP. She was smart, caring, resilient, held onto her sense of humor always, rebellious in thought when necessary...  I know little of her medical situation, because she made a point of not dwelling on it, but she'd been incapacitated or nearly so for some time, but kept posting, fortunately for us.   She follows her husband, who went a few months ago.

Actually, we subsequently discovered that she had mentioned her name on the forum in this topic regarding Facebook:

I also got tired of the applications, and I just hit "ignore" on them and they magically go away!
I am on under "Ginger Chapman" and would welcome DS fans-just be sure to put DS in the request so I know!

And also, the Web site link in her forum profile/posts takes anyone who clicks it to her MySpace page where not only is her name revealed, but there's a picture of her.

Yes, I knew she had her real name "out there" which is why I didn't hesitate to use it here.   I had no idea she was so ill.

I'm so sorry to hear this.  I didn't know rainingwolf off the forum, as some here did (it sounds like I missed out on making a good friend), but I always enjoyed reading her posts here and will miss seeing her around.  My condolences to her family and friends.

How sad that there will be no more posts here by Rainingwolf.

And what a beautiful poem by Rossetti that Gothick has posted, which I hadn't come across before - clearly the poet has contemplated the death of a loved one and captured its painful essence, which is relieved though not negated in the faith expressed in the final line.

I'm reminded, too, that DS sometimes took death very seriously and somberly (for example, the 1795 and 1840PT storylines).

Dear Philippe, I associate that poem with DS and with us fans because Jonathan Frid read the poem beautifully against a backdrop of one of Bob Cobert's most beautiful compositions on the original 1969 DS soundtrack LP.  I think the track title was "The Secret Room."  There's a youtube video for this but the music failed to load and I guess the fan was never able to fix it.  Maybe someday, you'll get to hear the recording.  He read it so very beautifully.  As I recall, the poem was entitled "Rest."

There is another Rosetti poem that Frid read on that album that is on Youtube--it's "When I am Dead, My Dearest."  The music I always associate with Liz plays in the background on that one.
