(  Sajid Khan - talk about a blast from the past - I wonder whatever happened to him?!)

He returned to India and had some success in a few movies made in The Philippines. Sadly, he passed away from cancer last year.

(  Now that you say that, I do remember reading that he'd passed away at the end of last year. He was certainly huge in his heyday - who knows how many DS articles/clippings I must have with something about him on the backside!)

Gloria Stavers did her best to promote him but to no avail. A proposed spinoff of The Big Valley went nowhere. Nor did a musical career, though it did produce one album. All in all, his time in the spotlight was pretty brief.

(I watched The Big Valley and I don't even remember that he did a backdoor pilot on the show. But you're definitely right about Gloria Stavers highly promoting him. And speaking of her, I did a Google search for Sajid Kahn after your first post, came across a fan Web site devoted to him, checked out the music section because I didn't even recall that he sang, but apparently Ms. Stavers must have been doing something right because I read on the site that in his album's liner notes she claims his singles "...drew more mail and more attention at 16 than any other recordings in the fifteen year history of the magazine" (I wonder what David Selby and Nancy Barrett would think about that? ) and apparently he was (cue Alphaville) Big in Japan (sorry, I couldn't resist, it's one of my favorite '80s records))

The episode is called The Royal Road and features Kathy Garver from Family Affair as well as Khan. She's a flighty teenager who is fixated on a visiting Indian prince. Guess who? Things are not quite what they seem to be initially and it's up to Jarrod Barkley (Richard Long) to straighten everything out. It's an extremely weak premise and I have no idea how they would make a series out of it. Apparently the episode was made to see if Khan and Garver could anchor a series.

(Granted I barely watched the show because I couldn't stand it, I thought Kathy Garver was extremely blah on Family Affair - though that may have been because of her character and the vanilla tone of the show and not a lack of talent on her part. But based purely on what I saw on FA, I would find it hard to imagine she could anchor a show. And I suppose ABC thought the same because they passed on the spinoff.)

Oh, I definitely agree. Family Affair was such a banal show that is really only remembered now in reference to the sad fates of Anissa Jones and Brian Keith.
Garner never impressed me on the show. But, to be fair, I doubt if Meryl Streep could have much with the material. But Garver has continued to act. She's done a lot of cartoon voice overs and can currently be seen as the Grandmother in a commercial for Clear Captions telephones.
