(When Burke came to C'wood to offer to buy it, he had to tell Carolyn that his friendly words to her had been campaign rhetoric that one wasn't necessarily expected to believe.   I forget what she said, but maybe something like:  maybe Burke shouldn't have said them if he didn't mean them.   Then he said "Why not?  I almost got elected, didn't I?"   

It was one of those great, mean, sexually-tinged remarks from Burke, that Carolyn has to take a couple seconds to drink in...)
