Jamison Selby Film
« on: December 29, 2002, 11:58:56 PM »
David Selby's son, Jamison Selby, starred as the male lead in an independent film entitled One Take, which was filmed in 1997. One Take made the rounds of the various indie film festivals in 1998.

In November of this year, the film finally made it to DVD and VHS, with a ringing endorsement from Billy Bob Thornton on the cover. If you're interested in learning more about the film, you can visit the official site.

The films is available from Amazon on either DVD or VHS. If you use the links here, a certain shameless webmaster will get a 5% commission. [lghy]

I have always wondered if Selby named his son 'Jamison' after David Henesy's 1897 TV character?  David's son was born in May 1969, just 3 months into 1897 so it's possible.

Does anyone know??

Yes, he was named after the character, and David has said so on several occasions including during the 1999 Festival.

Professionally, his son uses the name Jamison Selby now.

During an early acting gig in the Dudley Moore/Kirk Cameron flic, Like Father, Like Son, he was credited as Todd Selby (his middle name). He was also credited this way for a bit part he did with his father in King of the Olympics.

I don't know for sure if David Selby named his son after the character Jamison on Dark Shadows, but it seems likely.  While we're on the subject of names though, it would be interesting to know why the writer or writers picked the name Quentin for David Selby's character. Theodore Roosevelt's youngest (and favorite) son was named Quentin (born in 1897).  He died tragically in WWI.  I wonder if the writers, in looking back at that era, got the idea of the name Quentin from TR's son since it doesn't seem to be a very common name (like Edward or Carl).

I visited the site.  Interesting!  (Especially the newspaper article).  Guess what.  The director of the film lives right around the corner from my mother's house!  Cool.

Oh, I wanted to mention that it is available on Netflix. I've put it up toward the top of my list.

Patti,

My original post has a link to the official site. There's a synopsis of the film on that site. (Amazon's listing is a little bare. They don't even list Jamison Selby's name.)

In order to use a promotional code on Amazon.com, you have to start the checkout process. I don't remember exactly where they ask for it, but they do ask before you complete your order.
