OT: East Coast Earthquake

I wonder if and festival attendees and guests still in Brooklyn or fans who live on the east coast felt the big earthquake. I was in my car at the time driving on the Garden State Parkway between Clark and Woodbridge NJ (i think) and did not feel anything.

Yep, I felt it. Woke me up from a nap with the room shaking. Calmed down after a minute, but gave me quite a stir since I've never been through a tremor like that before!

When I lived in Alaska, quakes like that were a common occurence and nobody flinched.  I saw people working away at their stations without a concern in the world except to reach over and move their coffee cup before it slid over the edge while going through files or clacking away at keyboards.  Many bars even had an "earthquake bell" - if it rang by itself during a quake, the next round of drinks was on the house.  Earthquakes were very popular up there if you were in the right place.

I *might* not have known, but I got a FB post from a friend in NJ. Then, my daughter here in GA texted me; I told her about NJ!!!!
(Scariest because this morning, early, I heard about a quake in southern CO...)

I felt absolutely nothing. And considering I live between NY and Boston and Boston supposedly felt it, I thought that was a bit odd. But where I live is built on a granite ledge, so I guess the shocks got absorbed before they ever reached us.

I am about 80-90 mi from the epicenter, and we felt it alright!  We didn't really understand what it was at first, as I work in a laboratory/hospital that sometimes has strange equipment going- some thought there was an equipment malfunction somewhere and some thought an explosion.  But the building I work in is HUGE and very solid brick and concrete, and as the floor continued shaking visibly it eventually became obvious it was something more.  The worst part was that it seemed to get worse as it went along, instead of starting strong and dissipating.  What's funny is that I experienced my first earthquake last July that was epicentered only a mile from my house in Maryland, and though it woke me up it was only a 3.4, but yesterday I *still* didn't automatically think "earthquake".  It just doesn't come to mind, here.  Now, the hurricane that's on its way is another matter

I live south of Boston and, like MB, felt absolutely nothing.

Didn't notice it in the nutmeg state, though nearby buildings shook and some offices were evacuated. Some neighbors said their cabinets opened up. As earthquakes go, this one was pretty mild
