Quentin is a robot.......
« on: November 13, 2002, 08:57:44 PM »
Played today by Bendor, from Futurama!

A little sample of of Sandor's Magic Herbal Elixer [still in his moustache!]  Have you ever heard the word NAPKIN?
Magda and Sandor cross themselves. [could use 30 seconds of Listerene! - worth the time]

WWW.I LOVE HOT SOUP .com

Hey when did Barn's coffin get lined with TLATKLS's blue velvet dress??

Lets set some rules:
    Man lives, man dies
    I before E
    No cell phone while driving
    No speedo's on bicycle seats
    All Chillin' - no Ill'in

Give me Jamison [or Bwoderwick, or Bwyan][big nose!]

Quentin [as Bendor] on his back like a turtle beside his grave.....

Rev. Tra$h removes his coat - 'now where are those two Bryers Ice Cream boys who kiss?' - 'you are overly familiar with your elders, Jamison!' 'a moment of PRIVACY - with my right hands, Minerva and Chastity' [Magda and Sandor cross themselves]

...and that last 'kneeling' scene was just TOO easy......
[but all Barn and Liz could do was listen!]

[jester]
We sing, we dance.....and we don't need pants!

Magda and Sandor doing the Synchronized-Sign-Of-The-Cross had me in hysterics.  Not since Catachism class have I seen such technique!!  ::)

RP, in old 1930s horror movies, people ALWAYS cross themselves in synch.  It's sort of a tradition of the genre.  Kind of like all the girls kicking together in a Busby Berkeley production #.

I'm fighting (successfully, I trust) the urge here to start quoting the words to the Vatican Rag by Tom Lehrer.

I guess it was just that it was Grayson Hall and Thayer David in those gawd-awful gypsy get-ups doing it that struck me so funny.  Can you imagine how many times they must have cracked themselves up?

Ah, Busby Berkley.....haven't seen one of those in a while!!

It woulda been more historically correct if the Rakosi's crossed themselves from right shoulder to left shoulder, as a good number of Romany were actually of the Eastern Orthodox faith, especially if they had a name like Rakosi.

Quentin probably made the best dead person (even walking dead person) on the whole series.  He was able to keep his eyes open without blinking.  But there were moments when I was waiting for him to utter:  "Danger, Will Robinson!"  Still, he woulda been immensely helpful to have around the house if he could be kept in his zombified state.  They coulda used him for everything from holding up the washlines to moving heavy furniture.

Was that the version from the 70's with Mia Farrow?  I watched that last year but don't remember seeing KLS in it.  Which character did she play?

KLS plays Catherine, Myrtle's (Karen Black) sister.  KLS is in the apartment party scene and is talking to Nick Carraway (Sam Waterston).  She's sporting a marcel wave bob hairdo, looking very much the flapper girl!  One could imagine her doing the Charleston!

I was quite amazed at his performance.  It wasn't just his stiffness and the non-blinking.  Especially when we first see him rocking in the chair in Rachel's room, there was something "not real" about him.  The face actually looked sort of wooden.  I was wondering if they used a dummy instead of Selby.  He was not only so motionless, but the face didn't seem alive.

The subsequent scenes, again, he managed to keep that wide open stare so perfectly, even for rather extended periods of time.  Incredible!!

He was also the best looking dead person on the show.  I thought he did such a great job playing the zombie part too!  He really did creep me out with the blank stare look. His face showed no emotion at all and I honestly don't know how he kept his eyes so wide open like that without constantly flickering his lids.

Im sure when his scenes were over he probably wanted to kill the camera man!!  I noticed that at times while he was just sitting there the camera was on him a bit too long.  And not from a distance either, they were close ups right on his face!!  That must have been hard for him to keep up for so long.[wow]

Welcome back Ringo!!  I loved your comments!  Good to see you posting again! :-)

Did you notice that by the end of the zombie shows, his eyes were redder than when the show started??
(He could have done some Visine commercials)

The scene where Zombie Quentin was crawling on the graveyard ground was especially effective because, intentionally or not, the lighting made it look as though his eyes were glowing. I was at first amazed by the "special effect" until they zoomed in closer and I could see that it was simply the way the light was hitting the whites of his eyes.
