He would report the family to the state for running a lottery without a permit.

   OMG - THAT is too, Too, TOO PERFECT!!

The state agency that I worked for used to issue those permits. There were huge penalties to be paid to the state for operating without the proper permit. And federal consequences as well, if taxes were not paid. Scarier than anything Brutus ever came up with.

The Lucy and Ethel episode where they invent a fake charity to finance a trip to Europe is actually pretty accurate.

(  Believe it or not, I don't remember that one...)

The name of their fake charity is The Ladies Overseas Aid. Lucy's typical logic is that they are ladies who want to go overseas and they definitely need aid.

(  Yes, that's typical Lucy!!  )

Yep, and Lucy never seems to learn her lesson, does she? Rather like Barnabas, in some ways, though Lucy is a lot funnier along the way.

(  Yes, Barnabas is rarely intentionally funny, mostly unintentionally!!  )

If Barnabas had presented Josette with a music box that played Babalu, it would have been all over.🎶🎶🎶

That would have made an interesting skit for The Collinsport Players .
