Oh No, not Ned!
« on: October 11, 2002, 04:59:41 PM »
spoilers

Of all RD's roles Ned is the MOST irritating! He beats Jeffy
Clark even! the only plus was he is not on that much!
Dirk was always IMHO the best of his roles He seemed to be able to play him the best esp as a manic vampire!
love when he was chasing Beth with the doll!Ned evens manages to maul his own sister!maybe he would have made a good wolfy!;)

Just when you think he couldn't be more irritating, he proves you wrong.

I agree Jen! I couldn't stand the Ned Stuart character at all!  And you're right, he was the worst of the bunch![puke]

Along with the "Hair touching Tally"  maybe MB should have added another Tally that says, "How many times has he screamed, shouted, or practically mauled someone to death so far!"

Honestly,  I can't even recall one time that he was
"actually" happy or had a smile on his face!!  Never!

I just viewed today's episode with good ole Roger Davis as Ned Stuart. When he said he was from out west, it made me wonder if he was a descendant of Vicki and Peter Bradford. Possibility?

When I saw Carolyn opening the door and there "he" stood, I got this distaste in my mouth.

I didn't know if he was going to maul her or yell.

But I sort of "like" Dirk Wilken.  At least, you can maul or yell at somebody when you in his position.  Lets face it, he'll do it anyway.

I never watched Jeff Clark over the past months when he was on, so I don't know...
BUT - I saw the show today, and from what I saw of Ned, he came across as totally OBNOXIOUS from the moment he walked in the door.

Do I have him pegged correctly??  LOL

Ned is definitely a nasty SOB, but he does have good reason for being one in this storyline, which will soon be revealed, as will his reason for having nothing to smile about.

Believe me, I'm no Ned fan, and find his man-handling of his sister totally unacceptable.  I often wonder if Lisa Richards ever told him to stop grabbing her like that, or hopefully hauled off and punched him?

Love, Robin

1897 is so close now, I wonder why they didn't get another actor to play Ned?  Its not that long ago jeff Clark/Peter Bradford was last seen.  After 1897 ends, Ned is never shown again anyway.

DC probably had him under contract so he figured he might as well use him.  We now have to live with that mistake for eternity.

I'm probably a minority of one, but I actually thought this was one of Roger Davis's better roles.  As the obnoxious and belligerent Ned Stuart, Roger Davis is very convincing.  As Robin mentioned, at least Ned has an excuse for all his shouting.  Furthermore, while Peter Bradford and Jeff Clark were meant to be leading men, we're not supposed to like Ned, (and judging from the comments so far, Davis was quite successful in achieving this aspect) who has come to Collinsport to threaten Chris Jennings, one of the current main characters.  Actually, I think Dan Curtis knew exactly what he was doing when he cast the part. ;)

My thoughts exactly.  I find Jeff Clark much more irritating because he's *suppose* to be a good guy, and we're *suppose* to like him.  Ned has no redeeming qualities, and I think it the character was designed for us to hate, lol.
