BLACKWOOD'S BEST DRESSED LIST
« on: October 11, 2002, 03:40:47 AM »
It is time for Garth Blackwood to make his annual selection for THE COLLINWOOD CHATTER of the 10 best dressed characters on the show. The Master of Dartmoor asks that you share your thoughts with him.
It is a good day because I am still ticking!

Elizabeth--On the very first episode she looked so glamorous in that black dress and jewels. She had the best wardrobe in the show.8)

Roger--He looked great lounging around Collinwood in those elegant smoking jackets.[coolg]

Maggie--Occasionally, she wore mod sixties styles--the quilted skirt, the paisley mini-dress. Those styles were "in" then.[coolb]

Barnabas-  His "Edwardian Mod" suits, combined with his Inverness and cane, give him the ultimate retro-hip look.

The Werewolf-  His woodsy look is timeless, and the shoulder pads are a good decade ahead of their time.

Roger- The various understated ensembles that he wears just ooze that subtle, expensive aura of old money.

Carolyn-  Unbridled, Unbreakable, and HOT! HOT! HOT!

Quentin Collins- Masculine, ghostly Victorian chic.

Tom Jennings- Beyond-the-grave casual, this undead stud stays up all night!

Nathan Forbes-  New Wave!  200 years ahead of Adam Ant's uniformed elan.

Angelique-  beyond mere wardrobe, this sexy sorceress looks good in any era! (Yes, even in psychedelic loungewear!)

Prof. Stokes-  One class act, from stickpin to monocle, he exudes academic chic.  Sharp enough to cut yourself on.

Burke Devlin #1- His sport jackets and trench coat exude post-beat era man-of-action cool.

Elizabeth had the best wardrobe.  Very classy, and well put together.

Roger looked good in whatever they had him wear.  Just a few wardrobe mistakes on his charactor.

Maggie--well, she looks great in anything.

Complaint not enough casual clothes.  Would have loved to see Barnabas iin something less stuffy.
Birdie--

Tom Jennings- Beyond-the-grave casual
Petofi

LOL!!  That phrase is positively inspired, Petofi!  A whole new trend in Collinwood fashions.  Beyond-the-grave casual! 8)

I would have to go with Liz as my #1, she always seems to be wearing the most elegantly tailored costumes in the most beautiful colors.  The one exception I can think of was that odd, green shapeless dress with the rolled collar.  It looked like something the Talosians on Star Trek might have worn (anyone here remember those?)

Roger and Barnabas are definitely on my list, too, although the B-Man may be a little fusty looking from time to time.  But for someone who has been on a coffin for over 150 years, he looks amazingly hip, don't you think?  Also, love those dressing gowns of his.  He looks great in burgundy red, which is a favorite color of mine, too.

As for Maggie and Carolyn, sometimes they do dress beautifully but there have been some pretty big fashion faux pas from time to time (lime green sweaters, crazy quilt skirts, etc.).  The same could perhaps be said for Julia, who often embodies professional chic.  She has been looking quite good lately as I recall.

As for Quentin, well, he falls into the category "couldn't look bad if he dressed in manure".  Nuff said!

Yes!  I enjoyed petofi's list.  And now I'm seeing his avatar in a whole new light. :D

SPOILER...

Ah yes, though he may never live down the orange horror in 1971 PT...  or his "futuristic" threads spied through Petofi's magical cabinet <snort!> (godawful enough to make you want to stay in your own time).  But the torn shirts in 1897 and navy blue suit in PT more than make up for them. [thumb]

I have to say that Barnabas would be #1--his perfect English gentlemanish attire is wonderful.

Elizabeth---elegant in anything she wears.

Angelique---absolutely gorgeous; would look good in
                  in a burlap sack.

Chris-------I definitely agree with Petofi---LLBean would
                be proud.

Maggie----very stylish; chic!

Spoiler---------------------------!!!!

Jonathan also looks great later on in his more casual
role-----------------most sexy!!

Ooooh! I love these discussions.
Of course my favorite Barnabas is the best dressed man:
the grey mod suits-so cool looking,
the dark suit with vest and white shirt - fabulous and could pass for an 'undertaker' : - ),
the tails from the PT era, he looked so handsome, tall and slim (sigh),
But...I hated how they dressed him when he was Bramwell with that icky corduroy jacket and little string tie.

Elizabeth: for the most part, the best dressed woman on the show.  And her best was the opening of the series with the dark, v-neck gown she wore when we see her looking out the window.  A woman, so beautiful and elegantly dressed with no place to go.

Best dressed woman: Elizabeth

Best dressed man: Roger

Both had a couple of wardrobe mistakes, but on the whole their clothes were elegant, tasteful, classic and attractive.  And for the most part, they wore the clothes, the clothes didn't wear them.
