This is what's in my notes from the Paley tribute:

"DC:  he had an idea never tried, never told anyone-- during Christmas holiday - were no ratings, show was booming along - wanted whole group to perform Dickens' 'Christmas Carol'."

That's all that was said about it.

Wow Midnite, I am impressed that you took notes...
It is a good day because I am still ticking!

LOL.  Yep, in shorthand.  What's really surprising is that I still remember how to do it, and read it.

Pity it never happened -- I think it would have been amazing :)

It truly would have been amazing.  I can very easily imagine how it would have looked, right down to the artificial snowfall outside of the windows.

If it had happened, I wonder if those episodes would have been syndicated with the rest of the series.

Regards,

John

Thanks to everyone for providing further information about this.  Dan Curtis had a fascinating idea -- I think it would have resulted in a surge in ratings, attracting people who had never watched DS.
