---- DAVID SELBY & SUSAN SULLIVAN STAR IN 2 SEPARATE CLASSIC PLAYS

David (Quentin Collins) and Susan (Ghost) both often participate in staged readings for L.A. Theatre Works. These shows feature many familiar actors seated onstage, holding scripts bound in notebooks. When their character has dialogue, the actor steps to a microphone and uses vocal inflections, facial expressions, and body language to interpret the lines and tone. Throughout the performance, live sound effects and music cues are heard. All this is recorded, along with the live audience reactions. The recorded production later is aired on Public Radio stations, streamed online, and available on CD. LATW's publicity: "All of our plays are performed without sets or costumes for later broadcast on public radio and internet streaming."

---- David stars in an upcoming LATW's performance:of the iconic Bram Stoker's iconic novel DRACULA. The shows, presented in the radio theatre format described above, are May 18-20 at 8:00; May 21 at 2:30, and May 22 at 4:00.

The venue is the intimate Maglin Auditorium of the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd. in Brentwood (Los Angeles). Box office: 310-827-0889. Order tickets online: https://www.ovationtix.com/trs/pr/749055

Publicity: "Featuring David Selby. Before Twilight and True Blood, only one vampire commanded `the children of the night.' Join us if you dare for a terrifying quest to find Dracula's lair."

---- Susan portrays "Lady Sneerwell" in LATW's performance of the satirical THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL, a " raucous send-up of hypocritical manners." Shows are Jan. 12-14 (8:00) and Jan. 15 at 2:30 and Jan. 16 at 4:00.

The venue also is the intimate Maglin Auditorium of the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd. in Brentwood (Los Angeles). Box office: 310-827-0889. Order tickets online: https://www.ovationtix.com/trs/pr/749025

Interesting news.

Hopefully "New York City area" isn't code for Newark, NJ. Hopefully it actually means NYC, Tarrytown, or at least Brooklyn.

And hopefully the new comics based on the original series will have better writers/illustrators than the Gold Key comics did - something more approaching what was done with the '91 series...

The witchcraft/voodoo ambience of New Orleans, and the Victorian architecture of San Francisco coupled with our fog would make both cities perfect venues for DS Fests.

I'm actually surprised there hasn't ever been a Fest in San Francisco. Perhaps the hotels there aren't willing to set their rates comparable to what fans have come to expect for a DS Fest...

The Castro theatre had screenings of HODS & NODS 2 years ago with Kathryn & Lara in attendance.
Around 800 people showed up--there is an audience here!

Anywhere but NEWARK!!!!! Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Tarrytown is preferrable to Newark, which is in the middle of nowhere!!!!!

Whether or not I'll be disappointed, the idea of new comics based on the original series sounds WONDERFUL!  [santa_grin]

To Sara Monster:

That loop of 1967 Carolyn swinging her biker-chick hair and Buzz swinging his ... moneymaker (!) is practically the best New Year's Eve treat I could imagine!  Thank you so much!

Gawd--was 1966 really 45 years ago?  That's more horrifying a thought than any of the cliffhanger endings we weathered on DS.

New Year's Eve cheers all round,

G.

I will miss dancing Carolyn and Buzz in your Sig, Sara.  [santa_cry]  But what you've changed it to is perhaps even better. That scene of Julia lighting her cigarette with a candle on the candelabra is priceless!  [santa_grin]  It even inspired one of the best captions ever on the "Caption This! - Vicki/Jeff-Cassandra/The Dream Curse-Adam/Eve/Nicholas"  board:
