Who Do You Want to See Cast in the Dark Shadows Movie?

Hey All,

I'd like to do a piece over at Blog of Dark Shadows on fan thoughts regarding casting of the new Dark Shadows movie. If anyone's interested, please respond with who you would like to see cast in which role and why.

Cate Blanchett as Dr. Julia Hoffman: authoritative & sexy.

Joseph Gordon Levitt as Willie, a terrific young actor, now the right age & type to be the gruff Willie, & because he was on the 91 DS.

David Selby as Roger,
Kate Jackson as Liz
John Karlen as Prof Stokes

the three DS actors who became the biggest names post-DS, all are the right age for these characters, and a connection to the original show is needed.

Jennifer Love Hewitt as Victoria Winters, well look at her!

Beyonce or Halle Berry as Angelique, because this character should look like she actually comes from Martinique--should be played with Island accent!

Jonathan Frid as old man on train--(rewritten from the old lady on train in episode #1 from 1966)
needs no explanation!

I have no idea at this point. I will have to think on it.  I for one don't like Beyonce's acting style but that is me.  I would prefer Halle Berry.   I really would like to see Helena Carter out of this one.  It's getting redundant in my opinion.  I will write more later...

Helena Bonham Carter has already said she's sitting Depp Shadows out because of the new baby she & Burton just had, though I think she's a terrific actor.
I LOVE her early work in James Ivory's films.

It's not that I don't think she is a good actress I am just tired of her being in everything Johnny and Tim do.  That is all! :) Cate Blanchett as Julia is a wonderful pic in my book!

I love the idea of Joseph Gordon-Levitt being in the film, both because he was in the primetime series and because he's become a fantastic actor.  I really want to see Joseph and Johnny work together, and this film is a no-brainer.  I hadn't thought of a specific role, much less Willie, but now that I think about it, it sounds perfect- it is a great role!

I also love the idea of a woman of color portraying Angelique.  It makes much more sense.  However, I've never been a fan of Halle Berry and am not sure about Beyonce.  Thinking back to Johnny's former co-stars (he often works with the same people again), Naomie Harris (Tia Dalma/Calypso in Pirates 2 and 3) seems perfect, to me.

Jane Fonda is nearly 75. She looks great but might be too old to play the 50ish Liz.

This is something that I've thought about a lot, actually, and I've posted my ideas other places, but there are a few members of my dream cast that I'm really attached to:

Victoria: Zooey Deschanel - though, I have to say, I've recently fallen in love with the idea of Carey Mulligan in the role. And as much as I love Anne Hathaway, I don't want her to get the role, because I think she's the obvious choice. I'm not sure she'd take it, though, for similar reasons as why she didn't take the role of Alice in Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

Roger: John Simm. I haven't seen him in very much - only as the Master in the new Doctor Who series, but I think he's a fantastic actor and could definitely pull it off.

Quentin (if he's even there): Andrew Garfield. This one's more based on looks than anything else, but I think he's another excellent actor. Besides, he was in The Social Network, as was David Selby, so there might be a ~connection there ;D. Yeah, yeah, I'm grasping.

As for others... Looks-wise, I like the idea of Amanda Seyfried as Angelique, though I'm not sure she could pull it off acting-wise. Also, if Helena Bonham Carter's going to be there anywhere, I think she'd make an excellent Laura.
