Which is odd in a genre that is targeted largely at females.

(It's not odd when there's someone like DC calling the shots!!    )

All too true! While there were indeed some inspired casting choices, several of DC's pets were, to put it politely, dramatically challenged.

(  Ya think!!    Plus DC frequently bragged that he had no idea how to write a soap opera. But he didn't really have to tell anyone that because all too often it was blatantly obvious...)

Something else that is very, very true.

In some aspects, the program succeeded because of DC. But, in others, it succeeded in spite of DC.

(If any of us had a nickel for every time we'd heard that, we'd be independently wealthy now - mostly because it's so true!!  )

If I bit my tongue every time I heard someone describe DC as a genius or a better director than Hitchcock, I would likely have turned into a cannibal.
