 [hall2_cry]

The great, Oscar nominated actress Jill Clayburgh died today after a mind boggling 21 year battle with Leukemia.

In 2006 she played a DS fan in Running With Scissors, and was seen watching the show.

Farewell to a magnificent talent who suffers no more.

Thanks for reminding me- and I had seen the movie in the theater!  Amazing she kept her condition a secret so long- I believe it's the same form of leukemia that Ryan O'Neal has had to deal with for the past decade.  I always liked her work, and am saddened by her passing.

Oh, dear, that just makes me feel old.

Jill Clayburgh was in the musical The Rothschilds on Broadway.  She played, in Act 2, the love interest of Nathan Rothschild, whose childhood self was played in Act 1 by Michael Maitland.  I assume that's the same Michael Maitland who was so good as Michael during the Leviathan storyline - the voice on the CD sounds similar - but I've never come across anything that confirms it.

Our Michael Maitland was definitely in The Rothschilds - I have several blurbs about his run in it that also mention his previous appearance on DS.
(Keene Curtis was also in the production.)

And the scene from DS in Running With Scissors was when Aunt Abigail went into the Old House cellar and watched her nephew rise.  "Abigail...what are you doing here?"  I remember it well.  RIP Jill Clayburgh.

Yes, her Running character watched that scene and the death of Suki Forbes.
A funny, sad, sweet little film.

Clayburgh and David Selby also shared a stage in The Devil's Disciple at the American Shakespeare Theatre while DS was on the air.  They're pictured together in his In and Out of the Shadows.
