OT -- Remembering Craig Hamrick Four Years Later
« on: September 25, 2010, 04:38:19 PM »
A Facebook friend reminded me that yesterday was the fourth anniversary of the passing of Craig Hamrick.
Craig, the author of the Louis Edmonds bio Big Lou, was one of the finest souls who ever graced DS fandom.

He'd be 43 now, and should be with us.
RIP

May Craig's  soul rest in peace.  Too young to be taken so soon.  But he is with God  and  thats what is so wonderful.

Does anyone know what became of the updated edition of Craig's book Barnabas & Co. that was being done at the time of his passing?  I had heard his partner Louis Salvatore was going to finish it, but I haven't heard a thing in several years.  If he needs help, I'm more than willing to give assistance sine I live in the NYC area!

Craig's partner is named Joe.
(-:
The original edition of the Barnabas book remains available at Amazon, as does Big Lou.
The update of the book never appeared.

I can't believe it's been four years.  I remember meeting him at the 2003 festival in NYC.  He was such a nice guy to talk to.  I and my friends would've chatted with him more, but Diana Millay, who was sharing the table with him, "drafted" us to help unpack her stuff and put it up!

RIP, Craig, and condolences to Joe.

Craig was a real sweetheart, a fine gentleman, and a gifted writer.  I miss him very much.  My condolences to all who still hold him in their hearts.

Blessings,

Steve

I remember seeing him in Tarrytown – I think about five years ago.  I went back the next day to buy one of his books.  He wasn’t there because he wasn’t feeling well.  His mother was helping out at his booth and I spoke to her for a short time.  A very nice woman.  I read “Big Lou” last year and really enjoyed it.  He was a very talented, nice guy and his death was a great loss.

I recall that my first assignment for the Bay Area Reporter in 2003 was a review of Big Lou, a terrific read!
