If it makes you feel any less nauseated, I saw Ellen yesterday, and Paris Hilton never said "I love him so much" or anything of the kind. In fact, I have no idea where half of those quotes that she supposedly said to Ellen are coming from. She never said them - at least not on the show, which is what Access Hollywood would appear to be claiming.

Talk about padding a story.  [ghost_rolleyes]

I had no idea it was the same Jason Shaw. Never made the connection b/c I never saw any pictures.

Padding a story? European magazines have been fabricating entire interviews with US celebrities. Wouldn't be surprised if one showed up with Paris and John.

Joe Haskell was in the '04 pilot?  Granted, I only saw it the one time, but my guess is that Joe was a walk-on, or in a room with a bunch of other people miilling about.  I don't remember anybody playing Maggie.  Was there a Maggie?

Really tottering off the cliff now into fullblown dementia...

I think if Paris Hilton had ever watched DS, she might have paraphrased to Ellen:  "I have but one love, and her name is Hilton.  and that's HOT."

reaching now for air-sickness bag...

the names of the 04' actors(marley shelton, jenna dewan, etc.)exist in the outer recesses of my memory bank like some half remembered dream. vague. remote. for some reason slightly unpleasantly.

but if i recall at the time the news was that if the series progressed past the pilot stage then the characters maggie and sam evans were to be introduced. there wasn't enough time to introduce everyone in the first episode.

so i can't imagine joe without maggie. maybe the role had been cast but scenes never actually filmed.

I don't remember Jenna Dewan at all.  I do remember Blair Brown as someone supposedly named Elizabeth Collins Stoddard dithering away like Harriet Nelson on speed.  It was highly disconcerting.  The memory overall is indeed unpleasant, but there were pleasant moments--bits of Matt Czuchny's unclothed body, and Alec Newman's eyes and voice, being perhaps the most pleasant.  In THIS DS I could definitely have gone for some Barn/Willie slash.  Ah well.

In the pilot, Joe was dating Carolyn, which of course isn't without precedence on the original show (before she took up with his cousin, ack).  I recall that the couple had one telling scene together.  Shaw was under contract with the production company for a year, which probably guaranteed his continued presence for at least a season had the show been picked up.

I don't remember Jenna Dewan at all.

She played Willie's sister and was Collinwood's housekeeper.

That was only in one scene (when Vicki arrived- and considering she was meeting her daughter for the first time, it was a valid choice). Her other scenes were played very differently and were quite good - particularly whenever she was opposite Martin Donovan's Roger.

And BTW, anyone who doesn't remember Jason Shaw might want to revisit this topic:

hmmmmmm.  I think I can definitely see what Hilton "loves" about him...

the question "but can he act?"  really does seem superfluous.

Thanks MB!

So, remind me who played Carolyn in this one?
