OT: I'm Looking to Interview LGBT People For a Newspaper Story

As many of you already know, I'm a freelance journalist.
Since DS has such a huge fan base among LGBT people, I thought I'd post this here:

I'm working on a story that could be quite big:
do any LGBT people here (or our supporters) feel or think that gay rights groups or self appointed "gay leaders" are intentionally sabatoging the gay rights movement for personal gain?
Have you ever needed help from a gay rights group but found them rude, uncaring & unresponsive?
