CNN Entertainment: The Changing Face of Vampires

From Dracula to Edward: The changing face of vampires

Though how seriously can you take an article that discusses the evolution of the vampire from creepy to sexy AND includes TV vampires while mentioning the late 60s, describing the current vamps as creatures who walk among us, and emphasizing the sympathy factor, yet it totally skips DS?  Several reader comments, naturally, do mention the oversight.

(With thanks to Kosmo, who noted the omission of Christopher Lee's Drac, so there you go)

It boggles my mind that one can forget the indelible mark DS and Barnabas has had and continues to have on vampire lore!  [santa_angry]

sigh.

shall i take it we are in the midst of yet another vampire "trend".

it seems to pop every few years.

the vampire aspect of d.s. is almost incidental to me. i watch the show for lots of other reasons so i'm not remotely plugged into anything else happening in the vampire "world".
sleep 'til noon and your punishment shall be the dregs of the coffeepot.

I am not crazy about Twilight though I watch it because I like Vamps and have since I was 7!   The main reason for watching the second movie is to see Jacob Black shirtless most of the time!! LOL   I know I am shallow!  And True Blood and The Vampire Diaries are excellent, in my opinion, if you like Vamps!

Most genres are a mixed bag at best.  While Forever Knight and Angel as well as True Blood were/are excellent, I could never get into Dracula: The Series or Moonlight much less The Vampire Diaries.  More of a mixed bag are Dark Shadows and Blood Ties -- what's right with them is excellent, but what is wrong is hard to ignore.
