This is a major bummer: he was a guest at the very first DS Festival back in 1983.  My condolences to his loved ones.  We've lost another member of our DS family..........

Yes my condolences to his family and friends. What a loss for all of us.

Wow he was a guest at the very 1st DS Fest in 1983. Thanks Charles for sharing that.

 [hall2_cry]
In 1993, when I lived in the East Village in New York (East 9th & 3rd Ave) I attended a Fest in Manhattan. Sproat was a guest then. He and I met on the autograph line, then ran into each other outside, trying to hail a cab. He lived in the West Village, so we shared the cab & chatted.
What a sweet guy he was!
Peace & healing to his partner, who survives him.

David

If you like DS and want to have a fun  on a Facebook page that is open to all forms of DS and doesn't allow childish behavior like some groups; come on over to DIAESD! You do have to ask to be invited and I will approve you.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Ron Sproat's family, friends and significant other(s) on the sad occasion of his passing.  He will be as deeply missed as any member of the Dark Shadows Family. [hall2_cry]

Sad news indeed; the Widows wail again for one of our own.

Besides DS, Ron Sproat also wrote for Strange Paradise, a personal favorite series of mine.

May he rest in peace, and may his spouse find comfort in memories of happier times that were.

Check out the link on the side of the page of the article above to the audio interview with Geraint Wyn Davies of Forever Knight -- interesting interview and they mention both the original and '91 DS!
