O.T.--- Edgar Allen Poe finally gets his dream funeral...
« on: October 10, 2009, 05:50:13 AM »
... Well, a dream of his fans, anyway.  This coming Sunday, October 11, a couple of days after the 160th anniversary of his death and first burial, and culminating this year of his 200th birthday, the Poe House and Museum in Baltimore, MD, will be reinacting the kind of funeral Edgar Allan Poe deserved, not the shoddy, shameful, obscure affair the original was.  Actors will be portraying various contemporaries and friends of Poe's, and even his real-life nemesis Rufus Griswold. Actor John Astin, who of course played "Gomez" on THE ADDAMS FAMILY, and more lately has toured with a one-man-show of himself playing EAP, will emcee.  The festivities, err, obsequies, will feature a realistic replica of Poe in his coffin.
Unfortunately, found out about this too late, as advance tickets have sold out, but no doubt people will be posting pictures somewhere.

Read more about the event, and see more pictures, here:

Not OT at all: DS referenced Poe several times:
Liz getting buried alive (Premature Burial)
Trask getting walled up (Cask of Amantillado)
Quentin on the rack, axe swinging overhead: (Pit & The Pendulum)
