Now, with Midnite's information, I have to go back and sort out the gypsy ghosts sometime. The short one seemed to be the least impassive, which was wrong for the part, so I liked him. And there was one - the one on the left end of the lineup, I think - who seemed familiar to me as a funny guy, but I recognize none of the names Midnite gave.
The incantations sort of interested me because they were different from Evan's - no bat, no raven, no owl, or whatever it was - and also from the incantations used when Quentin and Angelique were trying to get rid of Laura. It's a strange world. If Johnny had used non-gypsy incantations, could he have raised gypsy ghosts?
Magda heaped Sandor with insults when he was alive and wouldn't admit to Beth that she loved him, but now that he's dead, she refers to him as "my beloved Sandor". I liked that. And I liked that her first question to him when he was appeared was, "How is it with you?" In the midst of her terror, her first thought was to see if he was all right.
First Johnny says he himself killed Sandor, and then he says that Magda killed Sandor. I understand what he's saying, but the logic is repugnant to me. And I imagine that when he was dealing with Sandor, he blamed Sandor for everything, with nary a hint that Magda might be at fault. Probably he told Sandor that a true gypsy doesn't allow his wife to order him around.
