...Collinsport's weather ever again. Well, at least not its spring and summer weather. 

I don't know how many members live in New England or how many might be paying attention to the New England weather lately but it's seemingly been 6 days of rain to one day of sun for weeks now - and those rainy days come complete with thunderstorms (in fact there's one raging outside right now). And if that alone isn't classic Collinsport weather, the temperatures have often been in the 50s and 60s so people are still wearing coats/jackets/sweaters in July. Sound familiar?    Apparently Collinsport/DS was simply ahead of its time.

I'm heading to Newport RI, driving the long way.   We'll get there in late July.   I hope we have better weather when we get there.  No, I'm not going on a pilgrimage to see the Blue Whale (Black Pearl) and Collinwood (Carey Mansion), although I will end up in those places. I grew up in Newport and my grandmother's 100th birthday party is being celebrated..a month early so more people can attend.  I'd like to be able to hit the beach, but I'm not sure that's going to happen.

summer in maine.better get out that green felted wool coat and head to the diner for some hot,burned,stale coffee.

and when you get home don't forget to get the fire blazing and curl up under a nice warm afghan with a brandy.

And here I am in triple digit heat South Texas... I can't WAIT to get home to Newport.  It's kinda like that Twilght Zone episode where the world is being puulled towards the sun only to find out the main character is dreaming and she's in a world that's cold..being pulled away from the sun.

I'm liking it. I hated the heat in South Carolina. Wondering if the nasty weather is becauise I came back home though...
