Set-up:
It was a very perplexing matter indeed, thought Edward, and his moustache agreed.   Why, he had never heard anything so preposterous in all his life!   Why _______ had chosen to cover _______ with maple syrup surpassed all understanding!

(Dom, when I first read that, the lions were off the screen, but I saw the word "lions" then wondered... is that an intentional reference to Taeylor's spinster loins typo?   Then I scrolled and saw... that did me some good this morning, thanks!)
