Happy Fourth of July, everybody. Light them fireworks and blow up yer neighbors!

Uh... I mean, celebrate with yer neighbors...

After you've celebrated, there's some more DARK SHADOWS: THE LABYRINTH OF SOULS for your perusal. I've posted Chapter 7, hot off the word processor. Also, I've cleaned off some stuff from my Web space so that all 7 chapters done thus far will fit. If you need to go back to any of them, simply key the appropriate chapter number at the end of the link address.

Here's the latest:

NEW! Chapter 7:
http://home.triad.rr.com/smrainey/labyrinth07.htm

Chapter 6:
http://home.triad.rr.com/smrainey/labyrinth06.htm

Chapter 5:
http://home.triad.rr.com/smrainey/labyrinth05.htm

Hope you enjoy. As always, comments are welcome.

Excellent, Mark....simply excellent. Your ability to create mood and scene is remarkable, and your attention to details, delightful....tho, I'd have ordered Armagnac, myself. ;)

Thank you, especially, for setting it in the dead of winter.  All those references to snow and cold are making this 4th of July heat much more bearable!  ;D

But aren't you afraid some of the young'uns around here are going to wonder what in the world "cutting a rug" means? [lghy]

Keep 'em comin'.....PLEASE!

LOL! With reactions like that, who could refuse?

Yeah, "cutting a rug" would refer to a more spirited dancing, but with "Pennsylvania 6-5000," you'd probably have a bit more momentum going than with "Stardust."  ;)

Just started Chapter 8, so it'll be around in a few days.

Bear in mind, of course, that all of these are just first drafts (and probably final, for that matter). But since I don't have a highly paid, professional editor checking behind me, should someone's copy-editing instincts suddenly get stirred up by any errors, feel free to email me. I already discovered a slight gaffe, in that in Chapter 1, Julia's room is on the second floor, and later it's on the third. I've corrected the draft so that both are consistent (and on the third floor).

Back to work...

It's very hard to express how well you write. The mood that you set in this chapter was very romantic.

The physical changes that Quentin and Carolyn were having were subtle yet, intuitively, both seemed to know that this was bag and baggage of the bizarre life at Collinwood.

Looking forward to more.

I'm really enjoying this story, Mark, it's very suspenseful, sexy and scary.  You really know how to weave a wonderful tale!

Thanks so much for continuing this!

I can't begin to tell you how much I've enjoyed your story so far.  You have set an excellent mode: a mixture of winters isolation and foreboding with something enticing.  And it also has Quentin (which I won't complain about...ever).  Can't wait to read the next chapter.

Mark, what a great story! I loved the romantic atmosphere too. I was disappointed when the ending came because I wanted to read more! Thanks for yet another great chapter.  ;)
