    • Collinwood - A Tour
A photo tour of Collinwood 2002
« on: June 24, 2002, 03:36:58 PM »
A little bit of shameless self promotion, but I thought this might be of interest to the board.

At the beginning of the month, I was able photograph not only the exteriors but the interiors of Seaview Terrace (now Carey Mansion), the location of
Collinwood.

If you'd like to take the tour, visit
http://www2.bc.edu/~kuchar/collinwood.htm The site contains photos and mpeg movies of the trip.

Let me know what you think.

Tom...

tom_k35,

FABULOUS photos!!!  You obviously have an eye for getting great shots.  I was thrilled to see one of the mansion's ballroom, which is the room with the chandelier and a bay window on the left that's beyond what you referred to as the dining hall (the solarium).  I believe recent photos of the ballroom interior are rare.  Last summer, which is the last time I was at the house, restoration work on the ballroom was in progress and it looks fantastic now.

Thanks for sharing your pictures with us!

Thanks, I enjoyed the photos tremendously!  Did you get a glimpse of any parallel time changes in those east wing rooms?

I second that - thanks for the great tour!  I always enjoy seeing the real Collinwood!   :D

Thanks so much for the photo's Tom!  How nice to have a bit more to add to what we have to 'imagine' about Collinwood!

I'm especially glad you included a shot of the kitchen...the secret domain of Mrs. Johnson....a place we were never allowed to glimpse!!  I love kitchens....they are always my favorite room in any house.

I've been in the kitchen at Lyndhurst, during a Christmas House Tour....now THAT's a kitchen....if you've got servants !!  :D

Thanks again Tom.....

Thank you for sharing your photos with us...they're quite lovely.  I've been on several occasions but never inside.  It's nice to get a glimpse of the real Collinwood. :)

Okay, now I'm REALLY jealous! >:(

Some college kid gets to live in the famous Tower Room at Collinwood? It's actually a dorm room? How cool is that? That would be my dream home.

Thanks so much for sharing your photos with us Tom!

Great shots tom!  Thanky for the tour ;D

I suppose the main doors were NOT locked ;)

Wouldn't Angie or Laura be prone to use the fire escape?

and you asked us to 'imagine a typical dorm hallway' -  well, I remember mine with melting walls, ceiling dripping, Dali clocks floating around - and the colors! the COLORS! [OK,  that was only on special nites!]

The sign from Mrs. J might have said 'Please put your TRASK in the dumpster' [were there any freshly bricked up walls?]

and I could picture Barn and MAGGIE skinny dipping in that pool [hey, let me think about that for awhile.........]

thanks again for the tour!

Enjoyed the tour, lots of great photos! I have never been to Seaview Terrace/Collinwood, so this was the next best thing to being there. I'm picturing myself there with Harry Johnson. I'm in paradise!  :-*

The most extensive series of photos of Seaview Terrace I've seen -- I almost feel like I have toured the house now, so I guess I won't ever need bother making an effort to see it myself ...  ;)

Interesting how "light" the interiors are compared to the dark paneling we see in the series.  This reminds me more of the movie version of Collinwood.

Thanks Tom for allowing us to see these pictures of the CollinsWood mansion.

They are wonderful and it's nice to reflect back on the days of the series and it would be even more awsome to see the mansion in person.

Thanks again!

Fantastic photos, Tom...thanks for sharing.
