Over the past several weeks the forum has been bombarded nearly every day with dozens of potential registrations that turn out to simply be from very persistent spammers. It's become quite time consuming and aggravating to deal with them so, unfortunately, it's become necessary to temporarily suspend registration. Hopefully registration will reopen come January - and we're very sorry that any real DS fans won't be able to register until then.  [santa_sad]

This sudden (within the past few weeks) outbreak of hyper-spamming is sweeping all across the internet.  Quite a few message boards and groups I belong to on various subjects, from ocean liners to TV shows to other topics have been inundated by these parasites.  Virtually all are hit-and-spammers, wherein they create fake profiles, post oodles of the rancid stuff, cancel their profiles (often within minutes) and create new ones to post the same stuff and minutes later repeat the process again (and again and again and again).  Moderators are pulling their hair out, deleting these posts and many have also resorted to temporarily suspending any new "members."  These are vile creatures indeed, and I fully understand your frustration, MB.  For your hard work, Santa will bring you some extra goodies and bring to those leeches extra lumps of coal.

Fortunately, none of the spammers made it past our vetting process for membership, so our readers haven't had to deal with any annoying spam on the boards.  More important, I think, is that by having their memberships rejected, spammers and telemarketers are prevented from harvesting personal information such as email out of member profiles since these (unless addresses are hidden completely) can only be viewed by members.


Our apologies to the DS fans who've had to endure longer waits for activation this past month, and many thanks for your patience!

We should probably mention that we've had to suspend registration again for the very same reason as stated in the first post of this topic.  [snow_sad]  And again apologies to any actual DS fans who've tried to register...
